Oppenheimer, one of the biggest box office hits of the year, is now available to stream at home.
After raking in $949 million worldwide (thanks in part to the Barbenheimer viral sensation of the summer, with millions of people watching both Barbie and Oppenheimer in theaters), the film can be purchased online for digital streaming on Amazon’s Prime Video, Apple TV and other video-on-demand platforms.
Directed by Christopher Nolan and based on the biography American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin, the film tells the story of J. Robert Oppenheimer (played by Cillian Murphy), an American scientist developing the atomic bomb for the U.S. government at the height of World War II during the early 1940s.

The movie also intertwines the story of United States Atomic Energy Commission chairman Lewis Strauss (played by Robert Downey Jr.) secretly orchestrating a private hearing to strip the scientist of his national security clearance nearly a decade after the U.S. military dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan, to end the war. Oppenheimer also stars Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Florence Pugh, Josh Hartnett, Casey Affleck, Rami Malek, Kenneth Branagh, Benny Safdie and others.
